Designs 05 are creators of bespoke copper table tops for dining rooms and kitchens. The warm red and brown tones of a natural ageing copper add a rustic charm to any room.

We have large sheets of copper enabling us to make a copper table top in one piece with no joints up to either 290cm long x 90cm wide or 230cm long x 110cm wide.

Our copper table tops are made fully wrapped on the sides, the corners are welded, and there are no visible fixings or snags anywhere.

Corners can be square or radiused as in this picture.

Table bases

There are so many options for table bases that we find our clients prefer to search and discover a base of their own preference. Should a client have their own bespoke table base design in metal, we can often help.

Chunky Edge

There are quite a few options available for a copper table top. As mentioned above, radius corners can be added, and the size of the radius is an option.

The thickness of the table top can be 3cm, 5cm, 7.5cm or 10cm thick. The timber is built up around the perimeter. Note that to achieve a deep side profile the maximum size of the top will be reduced.

Alternatively, this table to the right is constructed to achieve 300cm in length x 5cm thickness. You can see an edge trim attached around the perimeter in a darker patina. So, the impression is of a large copper-inlaid timber table top.

Looks impressive!

Studs around the perimeter

A further design option for a timber table top is the application of studs or copper nails to the edge. This particular copper dining table top is oak inlaid with an aged copper edge trim around the perimeter, which is then adorned with domed bronze studs.

Bull Nosed Sides

Yet another option for a copper table top is to have a bull-nosed edge. This beautiful aged copper top has a 5cm diameter bull-nosed edge all around the perimeter.

“D” Table end

Check out this brass table top with a D end and snug semicircular seating to suit. This particular tabletop is fashioned in aged brass, but to create the idea, this style can also be reproduced in copper.

Copper Finishes

Satin finish copper

Above is an aged copper patina we apply in our patina studio. It is usually treated with beeswax to seal the patina. The wax does not stop the patina from developing with use; it moderates the rate and requires periodic reapplication.

Above is an satin-finish copper. After fabrication, we clean the welded corners and generally blend the copper to a uniform finish. Again, beeswax is applied as a finishing touch. This finish will patina naturally to reflect its environment and how it is used and develop character. Beeswax can be reapplied periodically.
